April 12, 2009Welcome to Potomac, please pop your collarsMaybe that was a little harsh for my hometown. Wait, no, people here go to NY for the weekend. And don't even get me started on all the designer gear I see when I walk the halls. All right, I guess I am being a little harsh on this town. There are some perks that keep a little music-lover like me happy. Let me tell you more:
This is where you can do anything and nothing with friends. More commonly known as Rio, this is where I go to see movies. Where I laughed at Adam Sandler in "Bedtime Stories" with my 7 year old cousin, and laughed at "Twilight" in general with my best friend. Not only does Rio have the best movie theater (2 levels!), there are pretty good food places also. For a not-so-typical pizza, one can go to California Pizza Kitchen. Looking for cheaper but just as satisfying grub? Let me recommend Potbellys. Appealing name? Maybe not, but the sandwhiches and milkshakes are delicious. Or if you're feeling south of the border, try Rio Grande. Or if you're feeling like fish, try Joe's Crab Shack. Or maybe you can just grab an ice cream cone at Maggie Moos and call it a night. Maybe you're not feeling up to testing a treadmill at Dick's Sporting Goods, let's get our shop on in Target. (2 for 1 tank tops?! I'm there.) Or maybe the milkshake cost you you're last $5. No problem, let's just play hide-and-go-seek. Or try on ridiculous outfits. Or just head over to Barnes and Noble to read for a couple hours or buy an album. ...........................
OH HAY FRENS :] Welcome to Robeks Fruit Smoothies, a very welcomed addition to Cabin John Shopping Center, where a lot of stuff goes down. Right next door to said Robeks is a brilliant restaurant called California Tortilla. I strongly suggest the BBQ Ranch Burrito, no beans no salsa. Not feeling the fruit smoothies? Theres Starbucks across the street, and a Baskin Robbins next to it. Oh heck, theres a CVS and Giant a couple yards more and if you really need it theres a McDonalds in a 3 minute walk. This place has it all, and no matter how many pissed-off looks we have recieved from the manager at Robeks, we love it still. And theres always CVS hide-and-go-seek.
Let's be honest, Potomac isn't for everyone. And when the girls who sit across from you at lunch facebook-stalk you and start taking the same type of photos you take just to make fun of you, life sucks. But as long as Rio and Cabin John are still standing, I know I can get whatever I need or just have a place to hang. You know you want to see what it's all about- wish you were here! Related Groups:

Already ate? Need to work off that large shake you splurged on? I say we head to Dick's Sporting Goods to try out each treadmill. Then we can go shoot some hoops on the other side of the store. (It's all in good fun, I'm sorry sir that your kid was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It won't leave a mark, and anyway, its the balls fault for bouncing off the rim like that.) Or maybe you're not feeling up to a treadmill, and anyway the milkshake wasnt that expensive. Let's get our shop on in Target. (2 for 1 tank tops?! I'm there.) Or maybe the milkshake cost you you're last $5. No problem, let's just play hide-and-go-seek. Or try on ridiculous outfits. Trust me, these 2 events happen many times when my friends and I get together.
Let's move on, shall we?
OH HAY FRENS :] Welcome to Robeks Fruit Smoothies, a very welcomed addition to Cabin John Shopping Center, where a lot of stuff goes down. Right next door to said Robeks is a brilliant restaurant called California Tortilla. I strongly suggest the BBQ Ranch Burrito, no beans no salsa. They just take away from the flavor. Even if they did take down the picture we put up of ourselves... Needless to say, you can get your basic needs at Cabin John and get rid of boredom through picture taking, grocery browsing (nice bananas giant, mind if we take a picture?) and the CVS edition of hide-and-go-seek.

January 20, 2009My Fellow Citizens...IT'S DONE! Obama has officially been sworn in, and all 15 TV stations that showed the Inauguration have gone back to regular programming (with maybe the exception of NBC or ABC?) Ok, straight up, Obama's speech got me pumped. I have so much trouble keeping an attention span to watch it, and I admit, I zoned out at some points, but it still was a very rousing speech. It was great how he pointed out that yes, we obviously have a list of troubles in the country, but no, he was not going to change them in a short amount of time. He said it will take time, but, in the reassuring hopeful way that is Obama, the problems will be solved. Anyone else catch the "let's put science back in it's place"? Maybe I heard it out of context (I already admitted to zoning out) or maybe I'm just thinking of the wrong thing. Thoughts on that line- discuss! Another one of my favorite parts had to be Rev. Lowery's rhyme with different races. I can't find it on the internet yet, but if anyone finds it can you post it? It was great.
So my fellow Americans, and my fellow companions in the world who don't live in America, what are your thoughts on the Inauguration of our 44th President?

December 20, 2008When The World Comes Down- The All-American Rejects as told by awkwardturtle27So album reviews done this way have become one of my favorite things to read. I'm going to try this style on for size with The All-American Rejects third album, When The World Comes Down. We'll see how this review goes down... I Wanna: (i first saw lyrics to this on Nichola Scimeca's twitter update on his blog. see bottom.) opening soft, getting louder. oh hai guitar and TYSONS VOICE. this is getting really catchy...here comes the chorus. "i wanna touch you" huh. lets just be subtle about our feelings. oo i liked that little drum thing before the second chorus. "our loves a perfect crime", i just caught that the second time. thats bound to become a facebook bumper sticker. am i the only one who thinks this sounds a little CIWWAF? well, i still like it 4/5 Fallin' Apart: oo nice transition from the end of I Wanna into this song. is that some more "orchestral instruments"? is this a theme to kick off songs for 09? Fall Out Boy did it do. i like these lyrics, lots of rhyming. thats good for me. why doesnt he finish saying "heart" in the chorus? whatever its still good. oh is that it..NO! here comes a bridge! and this synchs/auto-tune/whatever voice thing that makes it sound like youre speaking through a megaphone. i like that for a part of a song. but its not auto-tune like T-Pain oh, is there a chorus of "ooohs" in the background? oo good song. 3.5/5 Damn Girl: i have a feeling this song is about some kind of heartbreak. ok, wait, these lyrics might prove me wrong. ok no i lied i must have heard wrong. its defintily about a heart hurting. this isnt one of the songs that will get stuck in my head, this melody isnt working on me. i'll have to listen more than once. but i like the momentum and then CRASH its the chorus! "when hes inside you no theres no room for me"? are those the words. thats kinda creepy actually. oh we got some signs coming on at the end. a last little sentence to end it. that helped it. 3.5/5 Gives You Hell: ok i already heard this one and had it on my ipod and sing it with my friend and i love it. no contest here, hands down a great song for AAR to choose as a single. i love catchy songs that get revenge on exes. "truth be told i miss you...truth be told i'm lying". thats great. oh yes chants. time for me to sing along. nice ending, all this momentum and it ends. now thats a way to let the listener know its over 5/5 Mona Lisa: this sounds really country. i have nothing against that, thanks to my Grandma for forcing me to listen to it whenever i drove with her. this chorus is bound to be away messages for AIM, its already been one for me. from sing-along chants on Gives You Hell to a slow acoustic for Mona Lisa. i love this, its so soothing. reassuring. i feel like Tyson is actually telling me that i can sit beside him when the world comes down. oh my gosh, those "mmm"'s are so nice! 5/5 Breakin': is this slow also? build up again! a holded note, oh this is good. this sounds kinda sad. wait wait, i loved those poundings in it. ok this chorus is great. im totally getting a picture in my mind from this song. i love when that happens. "breakin's what your heart is for" yes, def sad. but oh so good. bridge time. "hope you choke on the lines" wait, i thought this was AAR not FOB? whatever, both great bands. oh it fades...i love fades... ok i love this song. in my top 3 for the album. 5/5 Another Heart Calls: wtf? is that a girl? who is this singing? this sounds kind of...tribal. like Love Lockdown, but not really. this is like a play or a musical... OMG did NOT see that coming! hello drums and guitar. we're rhyming again, yes. yeah im definitly getting a Musical Vibe with this. oh hai "OH OH OH"'s and "nah-nah-nah"'s. i still dont know who this girl is, but now shes singing over Tyson. huh, this song is getting better. definitly growing on me. defintily not my least favorite. is he asking for her back, and shes being cold? oh come now, let him in! oh its over. a fade. ok, i definitly love this song now. 4/5 Real World: why is this opening with a science fiction melody. it reminds me of toxic. interesting...this sounds kinda dark. oh, anything dealing with "the real world" is dark. harsh even. (no not the show thats on season 25 on mtv) ok, we're singing over each other again. omg omg omg momentum and CRASH. soft singing...very nice...OH CRAP its loud again! chants of "no" and "this could be the real world now" are fun stuff, but defintely a "darker" one on the album 4/5 Back To Me: aw, we have tyson singing up high again. from low to high. awesomeness. this song is another reassuring-ish song. more like "i need you, i want you, come to me". oh my, acapella. no, acapello. gender matching, my bad. this song is getting slower... ending with soft singing. i don't know how to describe this song, but i really want a guy to sing it to me. 3.5/5 Believe: singing as the opening! yes! i tend to love any song thats called Believe. so far i havent met one i dont like. (knocks on wood) i love this chorus. i will definitly be singing this one at random times through out my days. wait, wait, "a part of you thats left inside of me". thats metaphorical, right? whatever i still like this song. super soft singing, turning up my speakers to hear it. oh bang its back! ending is a repeating sentence...nice touch. getting softer. oh, next song. 4.5/5 The Wind Blows: oh this is nice. its a medium melody. nice drum beat. wait did he just say "sign a waver"? aw this song is really sweet. "ill pass by, but ill go slow". i can definitly see myself listening to this to chill. oh bridge again. with a nice beat. im a big fan of all the bridges off this whole album. oo that guitar thing at the end is weird. ok these noises are interesting. like sirens, but less so. that kinda killed it for me, but i still like it 4/5 The Wing Blows: wait wtf? theres 30 seconds of nothing, and its called When The Wind Blows. whattt? ok then, OO! HIDDEN TRACK! Sunshine: this opening reminds me of Viva la Vida...interesting. more violins? where are these instruments coming from and why are bands using them so often this year/is it a sign of things to come?! this guitar is nice for the verse. are the drums gone? better question: were the drums replaced by Christmas bells in the background of the chorus? ok this might take some getting used to. it kinda sounds like the song is trying to hard. i dont know... this might be my least favorite. its like a Christmas song being played in the summer, its weird. here comes the repeating of the chorus. ah, drums at the end. oh, the end. the album is over. this song ended it on a bad note for me. back to the beginning!
In conclusion, The All-American Rejects have kept us waiting. AP was right when they said that this was one of the most anticipated albums of the year, and AAR did not dissappoint. This album is a bit more mature then Move Along was, with maybe the exception of Gives You Hell. I mean, Tyson is literally saying "I hope your life sucks now that you've gotten rid of me" and that's not very mature (but oh, it's such a good song). Speaking of AP, in the interview with AAR, it was mentioned that they have been out of the music scene for so long, they don't even know who some bands are. Looking back, this surprises me, considering I was very reminded of some loved bands of the "now" (See Cute Is What We Aim For, Fall Out Boy, and some Coldplay). Amazing job Rejects, now get out on the road, and show D.C. some love by gracing us with a stop. (a review written like this by me should probably never happen again. i run out of and overuse certain adjectives) http://www.nicholasscimeca.com/ the link stuff i was doing wasn't working, copy and paste people. copy and paste.

October 16, 2008out with the old, in with the new
well, this was sort of an inside joke/moment that happened at my camp, and i thought of it when i saw this forum. so i thought, why not? thats the only reasoning behind it...
it was going to be something like "you think im batman, but im really robin" but that sounded kind of strange, so i went with that instead.
fact: i was inspired by the opening scene in The Dark Knight because the first time i heard this song, i imangined a bank robbery. i am so strange sometimes.
im going to stop now Related Groups:

September 11, 2008English Assignment...This was my english assignment before I had to change it. We had to write a paragraph describing a photo, so I used that photo that TAI posted of the music venue behind the microphone, when it was completely empty. Sound familiar? I was really proud of this paragraph, but it tells too much of a story, and it wasnt supposed to for class. Lame, but here it is before I edit it....enjoy :]
Before The Final Show:
It has been a long and exhausting last couple of months. Tonight is the final show, but by looking at the vacant venue you would not be able to tell. Behind the microphone, the whole place seems much larger than it actually is. The rows and levels of seats seem patient, as if they are waiting for a group of a hundred people to come and sit down. The lights brightly shining from the ceiling reveal just how open the venue is; the empty hallways for people to walk through, the barrier suppressing nothing but air from jumping onto the stage. The floor is bare, not even dust covering it. Without any people to clog the area, the remaining lemon fresh scent of cleaning supplies remains in the air, emitting from the newly mopped floors and scrubbed seats. The venue is so empty, it is even possible to smell the metal of the microphone and its stand. The pure air coming from the air conditioning buzzes behind the walls and through the vents. Besides the air conditioning, there is no other noise- just silence. A pin drop would seem as loud as fireworks. Standing behind the microphone, ready for the show tonight, the whole room ready for it also.
